TWIA claim in Texas - coastal insurance experience

Living on the Gulf Coast means dealing with TWIA (Texas Windstorm Insurance Association). Just went through my first major claim after a tropical storm.

The process: 1) File online within 30 days of damage. 2) Get your own contractor estimates - dont just accept theirs. 3) TWIA has a dispute resolution process thats actually faster than court. 4) Know your deductible - its usually 2% of coverage for named storms. 5) They paid in about 60 days which was faster than expected. Total claim was $45k for roof and siding.
