Portland ice storm claim - PGE power outage caused damage

The ice storm knocked out power for 5 days and our pipes froze and burst. Insurance tried to deny saying it was the power companys fault not a covered event.

What worked: Oregon law says the CAUSE of the loss has to be excluded, not just a contributing factor. The ice storm was the cause, power outage was just how it caused damage. Cited ORS 742 and suddenly they wanted to negotiate. Got full claim paid about $22k for pipe repairs and water damage.
