Nevada wildfire smoke damage - got it covered

The California wildfires sent smoke over to Reno and it got into everything. Furniture, curtains, the HVAC system. Initially insurance said no fire no coverage.

What worked: I argued it was "air quality damage" and got an air quality report showing the spike. Also had HVAC company document that the system needed cleaning/filter replacement due to smoke particles. Ended up getting about $4k for cleaning and HVAC service. Not everything but better than nothing.
