Hurricane Ian claim in SC - different than Florida experience

We had Hurricane Ian damage in Myrtle Beach area. Seeing all the horror stories from Florida but our experience in SC was actually... okay?

Maybe because SC damage was less severe, but our claim was settled in about 3 months. Tips: 1) SC has a 1% hurricane deductible cap now - make sure your policy reflects this. 2) Document everything with timestamps. 3) SC DOI has online claim assistance that actually helped us track our claim. 4) Our insurer was more responsive once I mentioned Id contact DOI if delays continued.
