Atmospheric river flooding in WA - not technically flood

The atmospheric river events weve been getting caused water damage but my insurer initially tried to call it flood damage (not covered). I pushed back successfully.

The key: water that falls from the sky and enters through your roof or windows is covered as water damage. Water that rises from the ground is flood. I had a roofer document that water came in through wind-damaged flashing, not from ground level. Claim approved as wind/water damage. About $25k for repairs.
